PROTECTION AND ACCESS

How your data is kept, and who can reach it

DATA PROTECTION

Locked away, backed up, and only ever opened by the right person

Everything you and your students put into Magister Desk is stored in scrambled form that nobody can read without the key, and it travels the same way between your screen and ours. Backup copies are taken automatically and continuously, so if anything were ever lost it could be restored to the state it was in minutes before. Files open only through private links that stop working after a short while.

  • Stored and sent in scrambled form, unreadable to anyone without the key

  • Continuous automatic backups that can restore any moment

  • Files open through private links that expire

  • A protective layer that blocks attacks before they reach your data

WHO CAN SEE WHAT

You decide who gets in, and we check every single time

There is no public sign-up for students and no course code to guess. You approve each student, send an invitation and choose which courses they can open. Every time anyone asks to see something, we check that it is really theirs to see. Fiddling with a web address cannot get a student into another course or show one teacher another teacher’s work.

  • Students join by invitation only

  • Teacher and student permissions checked on every single request

  • Assessments and assignments visible only to the students or groups you assigned

  • Access can be taken away in one click

FILES AND RECORDINGS

Private files that cannot be passed around

Course materials, assignment submissions and oral exam recordings are stored out of public reach. When you or a student opens one, you get a private link that stops working after a few minutes, so a copied link is useless to anyone else. Every upload is checked for type and size (100 MB for course materials, 20 MB for assignment files).

GRADES

Results stay private until you release them

Grading happens in a private state. Students see results only when you release them, either for everyone or one at a time. If you change a released grade, it must be released again. Students will not see a correction while you are still working on it. Once a student has started work on an assessment or assignment it cannot be deleted, and the student keeps access to their own results even if you remove them from the course.

PROCTORING

Proctoring for written assessments

A written assessment can take over the whole screen, stop students from pasting in answers, and note every time they leave the assessment page. The microphone is used only when a student records a spoken answer, and only after they have given permission. No screen recording, no logging of what they type, no profiling of behaviour.

DATA USE

Things we will not do with your data

  • Sell or share student data with advertisers

  • Show advertising to teachers or students

  • Use your course material or student work to train AI models

  • Let students self-enrol or discover other teachers’ courses

  • Record what is on a student’s screen during a written assessment

Payments are handled by our payment provider, so we never see your card number at all.
